I was freshly 18 and I knew what that entailed. I had been thinking about it for months. What would be my first tattoo? It’s intimidating at first. The thought that it’s there forever and that it doesn’t go away. It’s not as big a deal to me anymore but when I was younger it seemed like the biggest decision in the world. I had an idea of what I wanted but what I didn’t realize was that the process of getting to that finished product was much more complicated than I had initially anticipated. Needless to say, everything worked out just fine. After a few days of research and even longer between DMs I was able to set an appointment and get an awesome tattoo. Yet after a few times of doing this throughout the years, I came to the same conclusion every time. There has to be a better way. Unfortunately, I realized I wasn’t alone in this experience. Getting your first tattoo or booking any tattoo for that matter has never necessarily been an easy and quick process for either artists or clients from my experience. Even being able to see all the potential artists around you is difficult as a result of Instagram’s inconsistent algorithm. Finding the perfect artist for your next tattoo should not be difficult or tedious. Hence, why we created TatMatch.
